An innovation in temperature monitoring

Medidyne adds Temple Touch Pro to the Nordic product portfolio. The temperature monitoring solution provides non-invasive, continuous monitoring of the patient’s core temperature.

Medidyne now distributes Temple Touch Pro in Denmark, Sweden, Norway and Finland. The product, manufactured by Medisim, is a state-of-the-art medical device known for its reliability and ease of use. It is designed to provide clinicians with accurate and non-invasive core temperature measurement and monitoring. The solution can be used for both awake and anesthetized patients, making it an ideal tool for healthcare professionals working in perioperative care.

“We are excited to bring the Temple Touch Pro to our customers in the Nordic region,” says Jessica Nilsson, Sales Manager at Medidyne. “This product is a great addition to our portfolio of high-quality temperature management solutions. The Temple Touch Pro enables healthcare professionals to manage temperature in a timely and efficient manner to improve patient care and outcomes.”

A proven, effective technology

The Temple Touch Pro solution consists of a monitor unit and a sensor. There is a variety of monitor cables available, which makes it easy to connect the Temple Touch Pro to your vital signs monitor. The sensor is for one-time use and easy to place at the patient’s temple. It is small and allows clinicians to use it while also using a BIS sensor.

The solution uses advanced technology to measure core temperature from the temporal artery. Core temperature is based on the temperature of the blood in the pulmonary artery. This is closely related to the temperature and heat exchange on the skin above the temporal lobe. Studies support that the technology is accurate and reliable when comparing to invasive reference methods typically used during surgery.

Why you should monitor core temperature

Monitoring core temperature in perioperative care can help improve both patient safety and comfort. Effective temperature management can help prevent hypothermia, a common but preventable complication that can lead to adverse outcomes such as surgical site infections, prolonged hospital stays, and even increased mortality. Accurate temperature monitoring allows for timely intervention, ensuring the patient’s body temperature is maintained within a safe range. Therefore, it’s an essential aspect of high-quality perioperative care.
